Performing Arts - Endowment & Current Needs funds
Covenant College seeks to provide students with the training and knowledge necessary to develop their love for creative storytelling through the areas of dance, music, theater, and film. The multiple opportunities to explore and participate in the performing arts is a rich part of the student experience at Covenant. Students from all disciplines have the opportunity to study universal themes from a Biblical framework, gaining greater understanding of the creativity of God, and the rich heritage shared by His people worldwide. This exposure helps build critical thinking and creativity. And students who choose to focus more heavily on the performing arts are equipped to proclaim His name as they enter into careers in acting, performance dance, music, production, design, and directing.
The Choral Ensemble, John Hamm Music Series, student recitals, and biannual theater performances such as Frankenstein, Our Town, and Hello Dolly (recently recognized by the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival) are just a few of the mainstays of Covenant’s performing arts offerings.
There are two ways your gifts can help support the performing arts at Covenant – gifts made to the “Performing Arts Current Needs” fund will help provide immediate financial resources for this year’s and next year’s performances, events, and workshops. Gifts made to the “Endowment for the Performing Arts” will be used to build the long-term sustainability and strength of the performing arts program at Covenant.
Performing Arts Current Needs
Gifts to the “Current Needs” fund enhance opportunities for today’s performing arts students to continue to experience and glorify God through the performing arts. Current and upcoming programs receive additional funding for things like purchasing or renting needed equipment, covering rental space costs and other facility needs, sponsoring guest artists and directors, and developing new productions.
Endowment for the Performing Arts
This endowment, established through the Covenant College Foundation, seeks to build for the future and support “tomorrow’s needs” across a broad cross-section of the performing arts, including musical theater, theater/film, vocal music, instrumental music, and dance. As Covenant’s program grows, students will have increased opportunities to develop their unique God-given talents so that they are equipped to impact their craft, their community, and the culture for Jesus Christ. The long-term goal of the endowment is for Covenant to become a recognized center of excellence for Christian students who want to study and work in this competitive industry. Friends of Covenant who share this vision are invited to give to support the Endowment for the Performing Arts. Donations may also be made in honor or memory of an individual.
