What Events Happen at Covenant?

Each school year, the Campus Activities Board (CAB) plans a series of highly anticipated and well-attended campuswide events. CAB is a group of students whose job is to coordinate all the details for these large-scale events! The board is headed by a director who is elected by the student body each year to ensure that events reflect students’ current interests and values.

Fall Events

  • Jazz on the Overlook is a dance with live music supplied by a jazz band that plays while students spend the evening swing dancing on Covenant’s scenic overlook. This quintessentially Covenant event takes place over homecoming weekend.
  • Kilter is a Sadie Hawkins (girls ask guys) themed dress-up event hosted in a different Chattanooga location every year. The venue typically offers a fun activity, from mini golf to bowling, and the night always includes dancing and refreshments. Past themes have included country vs. country club, Star Wars, and safari!
  • Mistletoe Mingle is Covenant’s annual silent disco, a dance where music is blared through headphones instead of speakers. Students can switch between three channels, which provide a variety of music, from pop hits to Christmas classics.
  • Exam Cram happens at the end of the semester on an evening during finals week. It’s a time for students to enjoy a study break with snacks, activities, and giveaways in the festively-decorated Great Hall. Each exam cram is based around a different theme, from The Polar Express to Elf.

Spring Events

  • Sk80s takes place at a skating rink where students can skate (or dance) to ’80s hits in their best throwback threads.
  • Students dress up for Spring Formal and often attend with a date. The evening, which occurs at different scenic venues from year to year, usually begins with swing dancing to a live jazz band and concludes with DJ dancing.
  • Yearbooks are distributed at the spring Exam Cram, which also takes place during finals week. Students spend the evening signing yearbooks, reminiscing, and enjoying snacks together before parting for the summer. Past themes have included Teen Beach Movie and Cinco de Mayo.

CAB events happen in addition to other hall, dorm, and campuswide activities. Students look forward to these events every year–which will become your favorite?
