the Covenant experience narrative

The Blue Tribune is your place to learn about all things Covenant and keep up with stories from campus and beyond. By guiding you through the different aspects of Covenant, we'll help you decide if you want to pursue your very own Covenant experience.

College Students Can Dance Too

Don’t leave school dances behind after high school! Covenant students enjoy a wide variety of events every year, including campus-wide dances. Depending on the theme, students dress up in costumes, 1920s glam, or their favorite Christmas outfits to enjoy nights on the dance floor. Let’s take a look at all of our campus dances.

Jazz on the Overlook

An annual homecoming tradition, this night of swing dancing beneath the stars brings students and alumni together on Covenant’s Overlook-turned-dance floor. A live jazz band keeps the dance floor lively for a night full of twists, twirls, and dips. Never tried swing dancing before? Don’t worry - there are swing dance lessons on campus the week leading up to homecoming.

Kilter

Our Sadie Hawkins (girls ask guys) dance is always a blast. With a different theme each year, students dress up with their dates and/or friends and dance the night away. Recent themes include Kosmic Kilter, Quest Kilter, and Koncert Kilter, giving students the chance to showcase their creative costumes.

Mistletoe Mingle

The last day of fall classes calls for a celebration. Cue Mistletoe Mingle! Students spend a night down the mountain for a silent disco complete with headphones and three music stations to choose from. You’ll see everything from ugly Christmas sweaters to sparkly holiday dresses on the dance floor.

Sk80s (80s Skate Night)

This dance is totally tubular! Covenant students roll into a local skating rink for a night of roller skating, dancing, and roller races. Our own Chaplain Lowe becomes DJ Lowe for the night. Not sure what to wear? Ask your parents. I’m sure they have some 80s fashion advice!

Spring Formal

It’s like prom, but the classy college edition. Students dress to the nines for an elegant night out with friends. Just imagine all the fun of prom without your mom begging for pictures on your porch.

Juice Jam

Who said juice boxes are just for kids? At the end of the spring semester, Covenant students enjoy a fun night on campus dancing and drinking lots and lots of juice and fruit snacks. Whether you prefer apple, grape, or fruit punch, there’s plenty to go around!
