the Covenant experience narrative

The Blue Tribune is your place to learn about all things Covenant and keep up with stories from campus and beyond. By guiding you through the different aspects of Covenant, we'll help you decide if you want to pursue your very own Covenant experience.

What Makes Covenant Distinct?

When looking at colleges, you may feel like you are choosing from a buffet of possibilities. The key is to know what you want from your college experience and find a school whose unique offerings line up with your values. Here are a few things that we believe make Covenant College unique. Do they line up with what you want from your college experience?

More Than Academics: We teach you to view the world through a biblical perspective.

Most colleges tend to make academics the primary focus for their students. They should! After all, you go to college to get an education.

While Covenant is focused on excellent academics, we also care about providing our students with a holistic education from a biblical frame of reference. Our students are challenged to understand what the world says about a certain subject and then compare it to what the Bible teaches. This is how they form a thoughtful, biblical view of each subject, topic, and issue they encounter.

Common Grace Insights: With scripture as a guide, learn from the secular world.

Just because we’re a Christian college doesn’t mean that we only teach on religious topics. We understand that because God’s common grace extends to all humans (Christians and non-Christians), knowledge and truth can be found throughout the world. We refer to this as common grace insight. There is much to be gleaned from all of God’s creation, and we encourage students to pursue what interests them.

This means that English scholars can learn from authors like F. Scott Fitzgerald and George Orwell. Physicists can study Niels Bohr and Stephen Hawking. Artists can appreciate Pablo Picasso and Edgar Degas. All of these people were created in God’s image and gifted with insight, knowledge, and skills, even though they may not have known God.

Life & Career: Glorify God in your everyday activities.

Covenant helps students identify their callings as they pursue their passions and use their God-given talents. For many Christians, our callings will largely center around the workplace. Guess what? Work is a great way to glorify God and use your talents!

"The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.” —Genesis 2:15

God works for us, in our work. It may be difficult to see this sometimes, but we know that God is actively working through us, so that His love can be actively demonstrated.

Good work matters!

Support & Success: Covenant professors are accessible, and the Center for Student Success welcomes all students.

Covenant College has an 11:1 student to professor ratio. This means that inside and outside the classroom, you are known and cared for - not just as a student, but as a fellow believer, a brother or sister in Christ with our professors. Our professors care about your work, your success, your life, and, most importantly, your relationship with Jesus.

Students encounter new ideas, experiences, and challenges on a daily basis throughout college. The Center for Student Success provides a place for students to work through academic and social challenges with the help of personal advisors who are seeking the academic success and spiritual growth of the student.

So there you have it! Covenant has a lot to offer you - come join us and experience it for yourself!
