Curriculum Vitae

Economics at Covenant College opens the door to a great number of different fields. We have alums who are federal judges, business consultants, financial managers, lawyers, missionaries, real-estate developers, marketing managers, portfolio analysts and economists, among other things. They are finding tremendous levels of success and impacting their communities.

As a professor, I encourage my students to study the discipline seriously, question rigorously, refuse to accept simplistic answers, accept tension between ideas, work collaboratively towards finding solutions, and seek wisdom as the end goal. I'm fortunate to get to see the amazing things that our graduates go on to do with the way of thinking that they develop in our program.

Q. If you could compete in an olympic sport, what would it be and why?
A. Basketball.  It's my favorite sport to play.  I'm certainly not good enough to play at that level, but it would be a great experience.

Q. Favorite movie?
A. Moneyball

Q. Favorite food?
A. Good pizza, or anything spicy.

Q. If you could teach any other major, what would it be?
A. Philosophy.  It was one of my other majors.  I never found it as practical as Economics, but it provided me valuable insights into how to view the world. In may ways, economics is applied philosophy.
