Dean’s List, Maclellan Scholarship
Why did you choose Covenant?
I fell in love with it when I visited! The campus is beautiful and I met professors and students who were excited about Covenant and about what they were learning. I wanted an academically rigorous small Christian college and Covenant was my first choice.
How is Covenant unique?
I know everyone says it, but the community at Covenant is really unique. Put a thousand 18-22 year olds together and you’re forced to get some sort of community, but the one you find at Covenant is atypical. Conversations start in the classroom and continue in the residence halls with hall mates that become like sisters (or brothers). This is a community that, I think, is actively pursuing God’s will and calling in all aspects of life and is interested in doing that together.
What has been your favorite experience at Covenant?
My trip to China in May of 2013 with some classmates and the Halvorson family has definitely been my favorite experience as a student at Covenant so far.
What is your favorite class so far?
Doctrine 1 with Kapic.
What made that class your favorite?
Every class period I would discover and affirm more about my faith and it was wonderful!
What are some things you enjoy about your major(s)?
The fact that I get to study abroad for a semester in Spain is really exciting to me right now. I’m definitely sad about missing those months at Covenant, but I anticipate putting the things I’m learning here to work!
What person at Covenant has had the greatest impact on you, and why?
Kevin McAlvey, hands down. He has been such a support to me this year and is a really great role model of what it looks like to live as a Christian despite the realities of life. He’s always willing to talk and impart his wisdom into my life.
What’s your favorite part of the day at Covenant?
Sunset from pretty much any spot on campus. I especially love watching the sun set behind home plate on the softball field.
What are your post-graduation plans?
I hope to continue my schooling by getting my MBA.
How is Covenant equipping you for the future?
Covenant is preparing me for my future in that it is forcing me to be thoughtful about my decisions and about the things I believe and about what is discussed in the classroom.
