Favorite place on campus
That is a really hard question because of how many incredibly beautiful places there are on campus, but I would have to say that the Crater is my all-time favorite place on campus. It is a place where you can sit in the sun, read, do homework, and nap. It is also a gathering place where people can sit and talk.

Honors received at Covenant
Maclellan Scholarship

Why did you choose Covenant?
When I was deciding where to go to college, I had to decide between Covenant and another small Christian school. I was really stressed out with having to make the decision and I remember going to lunch with my dad and we talked about the pros and cons of both schools. One of the things I couldn’t overlook was the opportunity to be a part of the Maclellan Scholars program. I knew that it was a total act of God that I got the scholarship and I felt that if God didn’t want me at Covenant then I wouldn’t have gotten the scholarship. Even after I decided to come to Covenant I wasn’t sure I had made the right choice. But it only took three weeks of being here for me to realize that it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The community here became a family to me quicker than I could have ever guessed; and this campus is so alive with an amazing and beautiful love and passion for Christ. Our motto, “In all things Christ preeminent,” is prevalent in every aspect of daily life. Those are things that I haven’t experienced anywhere else.

How is Covenant unique?
The Covenant community is like nothing I have ever experienced. People told me that the community here was special but that seems like a big understatement. The people here truly become a family. And Christ is so alive in the student body here. I have grown so much since being here and I know that the community has a huge part in that.

What has been your favorite experience at Covenant?
My favorite thing I have experienced at Covenant is spring. After months of winter, the first day over sixty degrees is magical. Everyone is outside; climbing trees, reading, tanning, skate boarding, playing soccer. The trees are finally growing leaves and beautiful blossoms, and everything is bursting with happiness.

What is your favorite class, and why?
So far my favorite class has been Community Development 210. Professors Fikkert and Corbett are so passionate about the topic and they pass that enthusiasm on to the students. The books we read and the discussions we had changed the way I view poverty and poverty alleviation so much. It is the first class I have ever had that really got me excited to do the homework.

What person at Covenant has had the greatest impact on you, and why?
There is no way I could narrow it down to just one person, but Joy Wecker ’15, Ruth Gibson ’13, and Anna Harrison ’13 have had a huge impact on my life. Joy has been such a wonderful encouragement to me in my personal walk with Christ and has helped me grow in all aspects of my life. Ruth and Anna are both amazing Godly women who took me under their wings when I needed older, wiser friends to help me through my first year of college. They are all such huge blessings to me and I cannot imagine Covenant without these three.

What’s your favorite part of the day at Covenant?
Campus at dawn is incredible. Not many people are awake and it is so quiet. You can see the sun rising from almost every part of campus and you feel like you are seeing something that was made just for you. It is incredible.

What are your post-graduation plans?
I plan on getting my master’s degree so that I can do counseling of some sort. I don’t know what type of counseling yet, but I know that God will put me where He needs me.

How is Covenant equipping you for the future?
I am receiving an incredible education at Covenant that is rooted in the truth of the Gospel. But because of the emphasis on community here, Covenant has also taught me that strong friendships are just as important as a good education. Above all, Covenant is teaching me to put Christ at the forefront of my life and to find Him in everything that I do.
