Jazz Ensemble in Concert

Jazz Ensemble ConcertThe Covenant College Jazz Ensemble will present its fall concert on November 21, 2013, in the Dora Maclellan Brown Memorial Chapel. Directed by Prof. Stephen Humphries, the ensemble will perform the slow ballad Misty, Antônio Carlos Jobim’s Wave (Vou Te Contar), the upbeat Route 66, and more.

With room for improvisation, the concert will showcase the talents and musical know-how of Covenant’s jazz ensemble players, including a designated vocalist who will bring an additional layer of interest to the show.

“While we don't have as many non-standard instruments in comparison to other semesters, this group is more concise, deserving of the ‘ensemble’ title, and we can still pack a punch,” said piano and mellophone player Jack Flora ’15. “I'm most looking forward to playing All the Things You Are. It's an upbeat number that features several different instruments.”

The concert begins at 8:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
