Covenant to Co-Host Internship Workshop for Employers
On November 4, 2011, The Company Lab and Covenant College will host their first internship workshop, as a component of the Chattanooga Connection Program (CXP). The workshop is for Chattanooga-area businesses hoping to develop functional, focused, and value-added internships.
"An intern's role in an organization can be as mysterious to a manager as it is to the new intern." says Joe Ellis, the Company Lab's CXP director. Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to work on drafting well-crafted intern position descriptions, as well as an intern work plan and other related documents.
David Cofer, of Cofer Consulting, will lead the workshop. “I’ve been thinking of ways to get him to Chattanooga ever since attending one of his seminars almost eighteen months ago,” says Anthony Tucker, director of Covenant College’s Center for Calling & Career. “Most smaller employers don’t have robust internship programs. That’s not because they don’t need the help; it’s because they aren’t sure how to effectively utilize interns. Mr. Cofer specializes in helping organizations navigate this.”
The workshop will be held from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the United Way’s Community Room in downtown Chattanooga. Lunch will be provided. Attendees can RSVP at www.colab.is/cxp. Registration is $55 for the first attendee from a business, and $40 each for up to two additional attendees from the same business. Payments can be submitted online or at the door.
