Scots Baseball Shocks NCAA D-1 Tennessee Tech
Covenant College's baseball team surprised Tennessee Tech's NCAA D-1 program on April 15, 2009, with an upset win in the first game of a doubleheader. The Scots won 7-4.
Freshman Tyler Smith pitched six strong innings, spreading around 8 hits over the 6 innings. He allowed only 3 runs, while the Scots had 13 hits and scored 7 runs in the same 6-inning stretch.
Jared Carlson led the Scots, going 3 for 4 from the plate with 3 RBIs and a homerun. John Fredrick also went 3 for 4 and added 1 RBI on the night.
Covenant earned a split, winning the first game and losing the second.
