Katie Stanford Hired As Cross Country Coach
Katie Stanford has joined Covenant College as the new head coach for the Scots and Lady Scots cross country teams, following the departure of Scott Williams, who led the teams well before moving to Augusta, Georgia, to help plant a new church.
Stanford most recently served as the head cross country coach for Chattanooga's Notre Dame High School, following four years as the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's assistant cross country coach and head recruiter.
"Katie is a great institutional fit for us, and her experience as a runner and assistant coach has prepared her well for this position," said Director of Athletics Tami Smialek. "I am very excited to see what the Lord has in store for Katie as a head coach at the collegiate level. I am confident she will serve Covenant College and our cross country program well."
"I am excited and thankful for the opportunity to be a part of a Christ-centered college and a Christ-centered athletics program," said Stanford. "Both men's and women's cross country teams are coming off of successful seasons last year, and I look forward to leading the program to more success as Covenant continues the move into NCAA Division III."
