Spring 2017 Chamber Orchestra Concert
The Covenant College music department will present the chamber orchestra’s spring concert on Thursday, April 20, at 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Lok Kim, assistant professor of music.
In addition to music from Covenant’s chamber orchestra, the concert will feature Covenant’s brass choir, directed by Scott Finch, and flute ensemble, directed by Cindy Solfest-Wallis, as well as a harp duo directed by Catherine Mullins ‘14. The spring orchestra program will include pieces from Tchaikovsky, Dvořák, Brahms and more.
Says orchestra conductor Lok Kim: “Brahms, Tchaikovsky and Dvořák are considered by many to be the best composers from their respective countries, and the audience will appreciate the differences stylistically, harmonically, and musically in what they see and hear”. Though this music presents unique challenges to a small orchestra such as Covenant’s, the musicians have prepared diligently for the concert on April 20.
The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Dora Maclellan Brown Memorial Chapel and is free and open to the the public.
