Jazz Ensemble Spring Concert
The Covenant College Jazz Ensemble will present its spring concert on April 15, 2014, under the direction of visiting professor Stephen Humphries.
“Our spring concert program is shaping up to be a very entertaining evening,” said Prof. Humphries. “Several of our pieces will feature our three seniors, Michael Brown ’14 on guitar, Ben Kinnebrew ’14 on drums, and Zach Smith ’14 on trombone. Those in attendance will also be charmed by the singing of Journey Amos ’17. Come join us for an enjoyable evening reliving some of the great moments of jazz history.”
The program will include well-renowned jazz pieces from Woody Herman, George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, and more. All are invited to enjoy the American spirit of jazz with the Covenant community during national jazz appreciation month.
“I think this is going to be my favorite jazz concert that I've participated in while at Covenant,” said Ben Kinnebrew ’14. “All of the members of the ensemble have become a lot more comfortable with our instruments and with performing on stage. It is evident in rehearsals, so I'm confident that it will be seen next Tuesday night.”
The concert begins at 8:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
