Tennis Courts Grand Opening
Scots tennis teams played their first home matches on Covenant’s campus on March 15, 2014. After years of hosting home games at local high schools and clubs, the Scots brought their competition up the mountain to Covenant’s six brand new tennis courts. Complete with lighting and a new pedestrian path, the tennis complex enables Covenant’s NCAA Division III tennis teams to host home matches on campus.
The matches ended in wins for both the men’s and women’s teams. The women’s team earned resounding victories against both LaGrange College and Johnson University. The men’s team won its first victory this season on the new courts, defeating Johnson University after a loss against LaGrange College earlier that day.
“We are ecstatic to see the completion of the six new tennis courts,” said athletics director Kyle Taylor. “The courts look incredible and add so much to the south end of campus and our athletic facilities. I am thrilled for our tennis student athletes who now can play matches at home. This is a game changer for the tennis program, so I am also excited about the way this impacts recruiting in future years.”
The Covenant community celebrated the grand opening of the tennis courts on March 18. Scots fans came out to support the men’s and women’s tennis teams as they faced off against nearby Berry College. The first thirty Scots fans received a free t-shirt, and other prizes were handed out at the opening event.
