Covenant Theatre Presents Lucifer
Covenant College's Department of Theatre and Film Studies presents Joost van den Vondel's 17th century play Lucifer in the Sanderson Hall auditorium on February 19-20 and 26, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. and on February 27 at 2:30 p.m.
Directed by Professor Camille Hallstrom, the performance features Covenant student Kate Sarafolean '10 in the title role for her senior thesis.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors and will be sold at the door while seats are available.
A post-show panel discussion will take place immediately following the February 20 performance. The panel will include Dr. Jeff Dryden, professor of biblical studies; Dr. Bill Tate, professor of English; and Professor Hallstrom.
The play is written in the high Greek tragic style and explores the origin of man and the origin of evil. This rarely performed masterpiece of Dutch literature by the "Shakespeare of Holland" is considered to have been a source for John Milton's Paradise Lost.
The cast of Lucifer includes the returning talents of Kate Sarafolean, Katie Jenkins, B. Mitchell, and Kevin Hartzell, with Ann Jones, Jordan Linkston, Audrey Doris Brown, and Zach McElrath making their debut performances.
The chorus actors are Evelyn Petcher, Katelyn Hickey, Elizabeth Brink, Ben Burge, David Pickering, Alysha McCullough, Janel Corbett, and Jonathan Davis.
