Doubt: A Parable, February 17, 18, 19, 25 and 26
Beginning February 17, 2011, Covenant's Department of Theatre and Film Studies will present Doubt: A Parable, John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer prize-winning play, directed by Theatre and Film Studies Professor Camille Hallstrom.
As part of her senior thesis, Kathryn Jenkins '11 will play Sister Aloysius, the nun and headmistress of a Catholic school, who suspects Father Flynn, a teacher and priest played by alumnus Jonathan Nichols '95, of abusing a student. Ann Jones '13 will play Sister James, and local actress E'tienne Easley will play the student's mother, Mrs. Muller.
Performances will take place at 8:00 p.m. on February 18, 19, and 25, and at 2:30 p.m. on February 26, with a preview performance at 8:00 p.m. on February 17. Immediately after the performance on February 19, a discussion will be held with professors Bill Davis, Jeff Dryden, Richard Follett, and Camille Hallstrom. "There's so much to discuss in this show," says Hallstrom. "It's a great study of broken hearts. It really is a discussion of certainty and doubt, and that's worth discussing in a place like Covenant College."
All performances will be presented in Sanderson Hall auditorium. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and $3 for the Thursday preview. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 706.419.1051 to reserve tickets. Visit the theatre homepage for more information.
