Covenant's Theatre Department Presents "The God Committee"

Covenant College's Department of Theatre and Film Studies will present its production of Mark St. Germain's suspenseful and thought-provoking play The God Committee on February 13, 14 and 20 at 8:00 p.m. and on February 21 at 2:30 p.m. A preview performance will take place at 8:00 p.m. on February 12.  The play, directed by Prof. Camille Hallstrom, will be performed at Covenant College's Sanderson Hall.

In The God Committee, doctors at St. Patrick's Metropolitan Hospital have to decide which one of three patients will receive a heart transplant.  The hospital's transplant committee must choose between a rich young man of questionable character whose father is willing to give a large donation to the hospital, an older woman with a loving family but a previous suicide attempt, and an ill-tempered man with no one to care for him post-surgery.  Can the committee make a decision free from personal prejudice and greed?

Following the performance on February 14, a discussion panel will be held with medical ethics specialists Dr. Bill Davis, professor of philosophy at Covenant College; R. Henry Williams, M.D., former chair of Memorial Hospital's Ethics Committee; Roberta Donaldson, an oncology nurse; and  B. Mitchell, a cast member and pre-medical bioethics student.

Tickets for The God Committee will be sold at the door. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. The preview performance is $3.  For more information, please contact Iemima Ploscariu at 916.642.3430.
