Major at Covenant

How did you choose Covenant?

Both of my parents were graduates of Covenant College, so naturally I fought going to Covenant every step of the way. I wanted to carve out my own path and didn’t want to follow in my parents’ footsteps. I even deposited at a much larger university and was planning on attending there in the fall.

After multiple visits to Covenant and many wise men and women speaking into my life, I began to realize that I needed a much smaller and more intentional environment that would push me both academically and spiritually during my college years. I needed a place where people knew me and could effectively stretch me in my faith. I realized that Covenant could provide this experience for me through the community and the faculty on campus, and I really felt like God was calling me to attend Covenant. Covenant College’s community is what drew me to Covenant and is still what I love most about Covenant today.

Most influential class at Covenant
Human Resource Management with Dr. Quatro. This class taught me so much about godly servant leadership and how to effectively invest in others. It reinforced my belief in the idea that we are to love others as Christ loved us and see even our enemies as those who are made in the image of God.

Best college memory

My favorite memory in college was probably a missions trip to London, England, that I had the opportunity to participate in alongside Covenant’s RUF. We spent a week in the South Hall district of London ministering to the Muslim, Hindu, and Siehk populations through book tables and door-to-door evangelism. This trip taught me a lot about interacting with other cultures and really gave me a passion for overseas mission work. It was extremely impactful for me to see the power of the Gospel at work in these people’s lives.

Christian College comparison

Dr. Jim Drexler outlines what many colleges have in common, and describes the reformed, integrated, Christ-centered philosophy that sets Covenant apart.

Dr. Kelly Kapic discusses the difficulties Christian students face at secular colleges, and outlines the benefits of studying among thoughtful believers at Covenant.
